Salim Asgarally’s Colors of life collection : sarees

Salim Asgarally’s saree showing in Dubai:

Well, it is different for sure; very rich, very bright and with overpowering overtones of gold and red.

“The collection unveiled the beauty and innocence of a woman, wherein red stands for her ever loving heart,” said Asgarally, who received thunderous applause after the show.

There are some elements of this saree that I really like. The border colors and geometric design is great - the mixing of red and gold works there very well. But I am not sure about the gold ruffles on a blouse that is a couple of shades brighter than the saree.

I understand the red for love part; but which color and which drape and which part of the saree is supposed to connote the innocence?

This is a bridal saree and as I said, everything is fair on love, war, on the ramp and in the design of bridal sarees.

Traditional contemporary silk saree : still sexy after 3000 years : From pranali movie

Beautiful traditional saree with traditional green and red color with gold zardogi work.

A few years ago, this saree would have been accompanied with a green saree blouse with a thin red border at the sleeves.

Now it is a contemporary saree with red blouse and thin green border on the saree blouse. The juxtaposition of colors adds a new life in to an old saree.

Nothing complicated about the blouse design, simple, traditional cut and yet this is a very sexy picture!

It is the come-hither look!

A shot from the Pranali movie.

Here is another similar pose, although not as successful.

Nayanthara in an embroidered pink sari

Malayalam actress Nayanthara looks attractive in a pink embroidered sari. The pairing of traditional saris like the one show here with a more risqué blouse like the halter neck that Nayanthara is wearing, is catching on in a big way. As always, I have to comment on the accessories - the traditional silver danglers - perfect!

love the saree, hate the jewelry

Nice colors. the contrasting border and the pallus looks great and it is all ruined by the contraption she is wearing that some may call “necklace”.

Perfect half saree

First of all, the half saree seems “age appropriate”; secondly, all three pieces are coordinated; thirdly, flowers in the hair and sparse set of bangles reinforces youth. A little less make-up might have been better but otherwise, this is a great example of contemporary half saree.

Beautiful small size embroidered saree and matching blouse

Beautiful small size embroidered saree and matching blouse.

I prefer this a lot more then the large motif embroidered saree. Also noticed that she chose green earrings, matching with the embroidery color of the saree.

Ravina tondon in a gold saree

That huge nose ring gives me the creeps, but let me not get distracted by it. The saree and the jewelry does look very rich and affluent and brilliant.

If she was eating paan, I would say that may be she is wearing all 16-jewelry pieces (solah singhar). I guess you didn’t know that eating paan is considered as one of the accessory or jewelry for a well dressed women who wants all 16 pieces of jewelry!
