I am not a great fan of “matching” bracelets and little embellishments made from the saree fabric as accessories for the saree. But I understand that some people find it cute and feel more coordinated with those small touches.
This is an interesting example - instead of throwing away the small pieces of matching appliqué or fabric, might as well turn them in to trinkets.
I have been advocating jewelry for the exposed saree blouse for a long time; this is how it could look; it just needs to be integrated in to the design of the blouse.
Of course, in the above picture, the model has taken a necklace and she is holding it on her back to infuse it with some sexiness.
Actress Lisa Ray has always had an interesting mysterious and haunting look, whether it was the girl in red in the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan music video Afreen or the central character clad in white in Water.
Here Lisa wears a sari with a retro look. The simple narrow antique gold border is offset by an interesting blouse which has wide black straps with heavy embroidery which wrap over ecru colored amulets.
