Bangladeshi Telugu actress Ileana goes from demure to wild in a pink and orange chiffon sari that seems to move with her. The accessories are perfect - just a pair of whimsical silver earrings that almost look like large keys!

Nayathara in an orange benarasi sari

Malayalam actress Nayanthara looks gorgeous in a benarasi sari in an unusual orange color. The traditionally patterned sari with a maroon and jari border is paired interestingly with a contemporary halter neck blouse. The dangling earrings (sans necklace etc.) are the perfect accessory to the heavy sari.

This is an intriguing saree; this fabric is not something that is commonly seen in a saree; but as a runway project, it works rather well.

This is from the Army Institute of Fashion and Design in Banglore.

Just in case you haven’t heard of AIFD; here is a blurb.

The aim of establishing Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) is to make available an alternative technical education for children of Army personnel, serving and retired, so as to make them qualified Fashion Designers, Garment Technologists, Textile Designers, Apparel Marketing professionals or become entrepreneurs.

Wordless Wednesday: Maxim style saree picture

maxim saree ad

Maxim, the magazine that shows less skin then playboy and more skin then stardust, also sells sarees on their website. And this is how they they demonstrate the saree.

I would have expected more creative way for Maxim to come up with interesting saree modeling, but alas, maxim style has minimum effect.

A great design for a saree with think golden border and sparkling gold blouse.

In case you don’t recognize here, she is Nausheed Cyrusi.

Salim Asgarally’s Colors of life collection : sarees

Salim Asgarally’s saree showing in Dubai:

Well, it is different for sure; very rich, very bright and with overpowering overtones of gold and red.

“The collection unveiled the beauty and innocence of a woman, wherein red stands for her ever loving heart,” said Asgarally, who received thunderous applause after the show.

There are some elements of this saree that I really like. The border colors and geometric design is great - the mixing of red and gold works there very well. But I am not sure about the gold ruffles on a blouse that is a couple of shades brighter than the saree.

I understand the red for love part; but which color and which drape and which part of the saree is supposed to connote the innocence?

This is a bridal saree and as I said, everything is fair on love, war, on the ramp and in the design of bridal sarees.
