There are some sarees that are so far-out that the only way to describe them is to say a non-committal “interesting”.

I think I know the designer who likes to put traditional prints with itsy-bitsy blouses, but since I am not sure, I won’t mention it. The point is that this concept of taking something really traditional and adding a very contemporary blouse design to is a concept that is worth exploring more.

Some of you think that I should put this in a sexy saree category, but I beg to differ. I do not think this saree is “sexy”; the blouse shows a little more skin but that does not make the saree sexy!

Satya Paul does it again - in black white and orange

A classic Satya Paul sari in a graphic pattern splashed with a flaming orange design. The blouse design is very interesting. The orange Cross-your-heart bikini type style has a lower band, and — get this — a fuzzy fake fur collar!

beautiful saree ad

A saree ad to inspire and dream. Saree is like a time machine, it transports you back (forward) to a different time and place.

I really like this ad; it does capture the imagination of a women.

As I have maintained, saree is not just 6 yards of fabric, it is a six yards of woven dreams.

Knitted Saree doll

This serene lady has a secret.

She is approximately 30cm (12″) tall and she has a secret compartment to store precious items. She can be fitted out as a jewelry box with places to keep your rings, bracelets, necklaces, or anything else you want to keep safe.

The doll shown in the photos is wearing a very simple sari. You could make yours far more elaborate by adding beads, embroidery or gold threads. The sari could be knitted in a fancy stitch, or with a coloured border, depending on your experience. Her long dark hair is fastened into a heavy plait.
