Classic but interesting cuts. I like the one of the right where you create a texture and depth to the blouse.

Amna Sherif in a pink georgette sari

Although Actress Amna Sherif looks very fetching in the pink georgette sari, the accessorization is all off! The jewelry is much too chunky to wear with a lightweight sari and of strapless blouse.

Amna’s pink georgette sari is embellished with white black and blue beads and embroidery, along with a circular embellishment at the top left shoulder.

Aishwarya simple and sophisticated in a black sari

Aishwarya wears a simple black sari with metal embellishments running throughout the sari. The border carries the sequined look with a three leaf clover type design. The long dangling silver earrings that Aishwarya so favors, are the only accessory in the sleek and sophisticated look.

Don’t lose those keys - tie them to your saree, like Bengalis do

sari_key_ring_chabi gucchha Bengali saree

A reader pointed out that there isn’t much info on an interesting and common practice of tying keys on the saree pallu to provide some weight and also to make sure you don’t lose them. The key ring is referred to as chabi gucchha (a bunch of keys).

Actually, eons ago, the practice was started to show off one’s wealth by showing how many keys you had, but thats a different story. Now a days, you might want to consider tying your mobile phone there.

But seriously, the practice of keyring on a saree is very common in Bengal and also in Gujarat.

Most jewelers in US typically carry some ornate examples of these. If you can’t find it locally, go to ebay.in and look for key word key ring.

This also dovetails in to my suggestions to the jewelers; make something that is useful. For example, make an ornate box that women can tuck in to their waist, just large enough to carry the cell phone or minimal makeup. The key is to innovate the Key ring.
