Preity Zinta in a maroon and gold half sari in the movie Dil Se
One of the most memorable sequences of the movie Dil Se was the song Jiya Jale with Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan. Preity wore a traditional half sari in the style of those worn by fisher women in Kerala. The sari coupled with a very short blouse and has a more tailored look, and does away with the pallu.
Bridesmaid sarees

Do you see the difference between the top and bottom pictures?
Please choose something for the bridesmaid that they can wear outside of the wedding reception - this might be the only saree that they might have, don’t pick drab colors for them.
impromptu saree swing

Yet another great use of a saree: a make shift swing for a baby!
Love the smile on this lady’s face.
Gaurav Gupta 2008 IFW - nice texture

This looks really great! it might be readymade, pre-stitched saree, but it has certain character that I like.
Especially since I am not too familiar with Gaurav Gupta’s work. The first impressions are good with me!
Ritu Kumar at IFW 2008 : is that a lace saree blouse?

I am not very fond of large print saree designs. But is that a lace blouse that I see?
We’ll have to wait a little longer to be sure, but looks very interesting. I have been waiting for lace to make a comeback in the blouse.
By the way, if you are wondering, this is model Krishana. And for the life of me, I haven’t figured out why she is picked for Saree modeling. If you are wondering the same thing, welcome to the club.
