Another charming picture of Rani in a pink chiffon sari with an embroidered and beaded border. The blouse design is an interesting one - it is a halter neck blouse lined in skin colored fabric, with heavy sequins, beads and embroidery. As we have noted before, Rani could lose the chunky necklaces - between the face and the sari, she does not need the extra accessories!

What do you give the woman who has everything - to wear that is. You give her a sari of course!

Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez arrived at the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, in a bright red tanchoi silk sari. It has an interesting border which is half traditional jari, and half a more contemporary black border with the red and gold floral motif. The blouse is kind of odd — it looks like one that would be worn with a spandex skirt rather than a heavy sari!

Of course these don’t work too well for Indian saree neckline designs.

What are you going to say? I would like a halter top, with sweetheart neck with a queen anne cut on the side?

We need a new vocabulary for the blouse design.

I am just too sad that there isn’t much saree-wise to show from IFW 2008 in Delhi.

All of these “designers” want to be “international designers”, that means they have to create something that is completely unwearable.

I support their ambitions and I want them to succeed internationally. It is possible that many of the believe, and may be correctly so, that IFW is not a place to launch saree designs. Bridal shows or regional shows are better place to do it.

By older, I mean, non-2007/8 designs. They are still contemporary designs.
