pretty in pink - flowing in fuchsia

saree_pleat_work

I love this saree for multiple reasons; colors are nice, special attention to accommodate pleates, flowing design and of course a happy warm person wearing the saree. I would have toned down the earrings a bit, and would have preferred a different blouse design/color but this one looks great.

Rate the saree and let me know what you think.

Amita Patel of Vulcal Boutique - gujarati influence is so refreshing

ImageCame across some nice designs at Vulcul Boutique; the boutique is managed by Amita Patel.

What struck me was the Gujarati influence on the design and the display of the boutique. Of course, Amita is from Gujarat (from Baroda / Vadodara) and I really enjoyed seeing some of the nice saree designs shown with Gujarati drapes.

Especially for modeling part, it is become so uncommon to see drapes that are traditionally non-standard, that I found is especially refreshing. And I must say that there is something really “honest” about gujarati culture, so rich yet, so down to earth.

What the designers and window dressers forget is that putting a person in a different drape, from Navi to Gujarati to Bengali, is as important as offering a different design for the saree, or a different design for the blouse. It is one more dimensions where saree can be made personal and versatile.

Vulcal Boutique is in Florida, be sure to visit them when you are in that part of the world.

Shilpa Shetty sizzles in a low flung sari

Shilpa Shetty is our favorite It girl for “How low can she go” (remember Om Shanti Om and the famous sequence in the just-north-of-potential-mishap sari?).

Shilpa does it again, this time in a sienna colored net sari embellished with white embroidery. The halter neck blouse is heavily embroidered in white.

An inspired jari bag and belt set

This Meera Mahadevia ensemble cannot be called an accessory any more. The heavily embroidered white, blue and gold bag and belt take center stage. The clothing is pretty much incidental at this point. At best, any attire should be very simple to show off the brilliant bag and belt. The heavy gold kangan inspired handle is brilliant.
