How NOT to model a saree

OK folks, if you really have a gorgeous saree that you want to show off, do not use a vilayati mannequin with short golden hair and please, please, I beg you, to put a darn blouse on the mannequin.

Don’t show a saree like this, especially if costs Rs 20,000 ($425).

Tarun Tahilani - the saree designer

Tarun Tahiliani is a Bollywood celebrity costume designer.

He become the talk of town because of Jemima Khan’s wedding wardrobe contract. He started off as a fashion retailer by establishing his own fashion boutique in Mumbai. Later on he made a step further starting his own brand label called ‘, Ahilian’.

Extremely inspired by ethnic styles, fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani is of the opinion that Sari is the most elegant dress that has a great dazzling effect. He thinks it is the most apt apparel for sensuous look and brings out the beauty of India women in the most attractive manner. He experiments with colors and fabrics and comes up with his own unique classy designs.

He is simply fascinated by Chikan embroidery of Lucknow and is often incorporated in his designs. He also makes use of beads and semi precious stones to embellish the ensemble. He strongly believes that fashion is all about your comfort level with a particular attire.

The highlights of his designs are: block printing, bandhini styles, beautiful color combination and rich silhouettes. He is unique in designing and this is what sets him apart in the list of fashion designers.

hurley saree

The Hurley Sari was designed by him. Not sure if it is my favorite sari or not, but he did a good job of keeping it traditional.

Why is bridal wear collection always so busy?

I like the design and it adds depth and richness to cut but it just looks too busy to me! I am still not sure how I feel about having panoply of colors.

Bridal finery in attractive shades of red, yellow and blue slim cut skirt in free flowing pure crepe-de-chine is intricately embellished in vivid and bold embroidery design on front and back. Coordinated with matching embroidered blouse.

Saree Lines: One of my favorite Saree Picture

This picture is one of the most spectacular Saree pictures that I have seen.

Sort of an attempt to cover the whole earth with a saree or may be an infinite saree running along the circumference of the earth!

On a dry river bed, freshly hand printed saree clothes are spread in colorful lines, and it seems as the bright sun fixes the dyes.

Looking forward to seeing more from her! She knows what makes the saree sexy.

Gray colorful Saree

This is a fun, amusing color combination; gray with animal print. I think the blouse enhances the beauty of this saree by two fold (pun intended).

The design seems a little bit dated, but it cought my eye.

ODEl

For the uninitiated, the Odel store at no. 05 Alexandra Road, Colombo 7 is more than a store. Set inside a massive former colonial residence, the store offers everything men’s and women’s wear to home furnishings and a dedicated section for “nature and souvenirs”. Spanning several well-adorned floors, the store is cutting edge retail therapy for Colombo’s discerningly fashionable and even a tourist attraction.

Odel offers a Lifestyle! Otara says, “I have always strived to position the Odel store in much the same way as Harrods of London or C.K. Tangs in Singapore. One doesn’t go to such outlets with a specific aim of buying a particular thing. You go there for an experience. And you know that you will always get products that are unique, and are of extremely high quality”.
